Personal Bio

Jennifer Merritt is the superintendent of the Mahoning Valley Community School, a community learning center school in Youngstown, Ohio. She has provided leadership to the school for fourteen years. Prior to that, she worked for the Virginia Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Center at Radford University as a Project Coordinator where her work focused on self-advocacy and transition coordination for students with disabilities. She began her teaching career as a special education teacher with the Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg, Virginia. Ms. Merritt holds a Master of Science in Special Education from Radford University in Virginia and is completing her doctoral project for a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in trauma and youth violence research.
