Personal Bio

I have the privilege of sharing my love for accounting and passion for teaching with my accounting and auditing students in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University (YSU).  I have CPA, CVA, and CGMA designations and received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Masters in Business Administration from YSU.  I am also working towards my Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) with an anticipated graduation date of August 2022.  I have been named a 40 under 40 in the accounting profession by CPA Practice Advisor (2019) and a 40 under Forty Honoree by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (2021).  In addition to teaching at YSU, I am a manager with Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic, CPAs and Strategic Advisors in Canfield, specializing in Business Valuations and Employee Benefit Plan Audits.  It is my honor to serve on the Executive Board of the Ohio Society of CPAs and on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s governing Council.  I love volunteering, shopping, reading and most of all, spending time with my husband, Dan, my beautiful daughter, Kinsley and all my family and friends.

fun fact

This is super silly, but my watch is wrong for about half the year.  I never change it when we “fall behind” or “spring ahead” for Daylight savings time because for the most part, I check my phone or my computer enough that I generally have an idea of what hour it is.  So, when I look at my watch, I am mostly just checking to see where the minute hand is! 😊

Best Piece of advice

OVER-communicate as opposed to under-communicate!  In general, people hate to be in the dark, wondering what is going on, unsure where they stand, etc. Communicating with your team, even if it is to say that you don’t have the answer yet, but you will follow up when you do, is so important.  No one likes to “hear it from the grapevine.”  This is true with your personal relationships as well.  In your communication be honest, genuine and upfront with those you work with and those in your personal life.  The importance of good communication cannot be overstated.
