Personal Bio

Laurie Brlas is an accomplished financial and operating executive who has served in key leadership roles within a variety of sectors, including mining and natural resources, manufacturing, utilities, medical products, retail, and financial auditing and consulting. She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Albemarle, Autoliv, Constellation, and Graphic Packaging. At Albemarle and Constellation, she chairs the Audit Committee. Other committee service has included Compensation, Nominating and Governance and Risk Committees. In the past, she held corporate board positions with Calpine Corporation, Exelon, Nova Chemical Corporation and Perrigo where she served as chairman of the board.

Prior to her retirement in 2016 to focus on her Board work, Ms. Brlas served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Newmont Mining Corporation. During her tenure, she was responsible for the Company’s global finance, business planning, value assurance, tax,treasury, internal audit, supply chain, information technology, investor relations and logistics functions.

Previous corporate roles included Executive Vice President and President, Global Operations and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Cliffs Natural Resources. She also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Steris, Inc., an international manufacturer of medical products primarily focused on the hospital market.

Ms. Brlas also held progressive roles with Deloitte & Touche, Corning Clinical Labs and OfficeMax, Inc. Ms. Brlas received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University and received Gold Medal Awards for first place scores for both the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination and the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Examination. Other awards and recognition received include Fortune 500 Top 50 Female CFOs, UK Women in Mining – One Hundred Most Inspirational Women, Ohio Financial Executive of the Year, and Women Inc,’s Most Influential Directors.
